I love school! I went all the way through elementary and high school in a small, private school in Bessemer, Alabama. I have a B.S. in Sociology from UAB, an M.S.Ed in Elementary Education and an M.S.Ed in Reading, both from JSU.

Since my college days at UAB, I was a volunteer at The Literacy Council of Central Alabama, helping adult non-readers. I then taught GED prep and basic literacy skills in Ragland, while helping found the St. Clair County Literacy Council. Upon graduation, I started my teaching career at Duran South teaching 6th grade in 1999. I then moved to Ragland, where I have been ever since. I worked 4 years as the Reading Coach and then went back into the classroom where I belong. I have taught 3rd-6th grade Language Arts (Reading, Language, Writing). I currently teach 4th grade. I consider myself very blessed to be able to make a living doing the thing I love.

I grew up in Bessemer, Alabama, but have lived in St. Clair County for 25 years. I have two sons, Mason and Jackson.  They both work and are in college. I love spending time with my family. When I am not teaching, I enjoy cooking, reading, traveling, and watching old movies. We have 5 rescue animals, 2 dogs and 3 cats. One of the cats is a Maine Coon named Jimi Hendrix and he weighs 28 lbs.! One of the dogs is a blonde Chihuahua named Mr. Snigglefritz (or Fritz for short). Fritz weighs almost 5 lbs. They are precious, and always searching for a lap to land in. I love teaching and look forward to each new day.
